John Bryan led Riverdale’s vocal music program from 1974 through 2001, shaping a tradition remembered by generations of students and Riverdale Singers alumni.

A fine arts night filled with alumni voices

April 2026

A name above the stage.

Riverdale dedicated its new auditorium to Bryan during a special fine arts night. Alumni surprised their former director with a performance of “Just a Closer Walk with Thee,” a piece he had always asked his students to sing.
